Gerard formed My Chemical Romance on September 11, 2001 after experiencing the attack on the two twin towers. He wanted to help people. He has played in many bands since the age of 11. His grandmother Elena (aka Helena) taught him how to sing, paint, draw, and perform. He is married to Lynz the bassist of the band Mindless Self Indulgence.
